Sheboygan Area School District Students Will Receive Free Breakfast and Lunch in 2026-27
Sheboygan, WI — August 17, 2026
Families in the Sheboygan Area School District can plan on free school breakfast and lunch for all enrolled students during the 2026-27 school year.
SASD says it qualifies for the federal Community Eligibility Provision, or CEP. The program allows participating schools to provide complete breakfast and lunch meals at no charge to every enrolled student, without using a traditional household income application to determine the meal charge.
Families should still complete the CEP form
Although the form is not required for a student to receive free breakfast or lunch, the district asks families to complete a CEP Application during online registration.
SASD says the information helps maintain educational funding. Families may also need to provide additional information or complete separate forms if they want to be considered for other benefits connected to FoodShare, school programs, or recreation opportunities.
Families should not assume that free student meals mean every registration-related form can be skipped.
What the free-meal policy covers
The no-charge policy applies to complete student breakfast and lunch meals served through the district’s school nutrition program. Menus may change based on availability, so families should review the district’s meal pages for current menus and dietary-needs information.
Separate charges still apply to items such as a la carte purchases, smart snacks, adult meals, account payments, and other cafeteria purchases. The district’s policy does not make every item sold in a school cafeteria free.
School begins September 1
The SASD school-year planning calendar lists Tuesday, September 1, 2026, as the first day of school. Before classes begin, families can review meal information, submit any needed dietary forms, and complete the CEP-related information requested during online registration.
Questions can be directed to the SASD School Nutrition Office at 920-459-3568. The district’s school-meals pages also list meal-program contacts, application assistance, translation information, and details about additional benefits.
