I-43 Ramp Closures Near WIS 28 Continue Through Wednesday; WIS 23 Closures Begin August 20

Drivers using I-43 in Sheboygan County should plan around active ramp closures near WIS 28 and two longer closures scheduled to begin at the WIS 23 interchange on Thursday, August 20.
WIS 28 ramp closures have different end dates
The southbound I-43 off-ramp to WIS 28 is closed from 10 p.m. Sunday, August 16, through 10 p.m. Tuesday, August 18.
The northbound I-43 on-ramp to WIS 28 is scheduled to close nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday, August 17, through Wednesday, August 19. Drivers using that entrance should plan another route during the overnight closure period and allow extra travel time.
Two WIS 23 interchange closures begin August 20
Beginning Thursday, August 20, the following northbound I-43 and WIS 23 movements are scheduled to close for 35 days:
- The eastbound WIS 23 off-ramp to northbound I-43.
- The northbound I-43 off-ramp to westbound WIS 23.
WisDOT lists the detour for eastbound WIS 23 traffic heading to northbound I-43 as Taylor Drive to WIS 23 westbound, then northbound I-43.
For northbound I-43 traffic heading to westbound WIS 23, the listed detour is WIS 42 to southbound I-43, then westbound WIS 23.
Check conditions before leaving
The I-43 resurfacing project extends about 10 miles from Wilson/Lima Road in the Town of Wilson to WIS 42 in the Town of Sheboygan. The work zone also passes through the City of Sheboygan and Village of Kohler.
WisDOT says lane closures and peak-period delays may continue at various points through the project area. Before leaving, drivers should check 511 Wisconsin for current work-zone conditions, traffic impacts and possible schedule changes.
