Mead Public Library Highlights Ground News Access, Estate Planning Workshop, Mead Con and More
SHEBOYGAN, WI – April 2, 2026 – Mead Public Library has rolled out another round of community updates for April, with educational tools, practical workshops, seasonal resources, and special events for Sheboygan-area residents of all ages.
Among the latest highlights are free access to Ground News with a library card, an estate planning workshop, a refreshed seed library for spring, the continuing countdown to Mead Con, and several upcoming programs focused on gardening, grief support, memory care, and personalized reading recommendations.
Library Card Holders Now Get Free Ground News Access

Mead Public Library says library card holders now have free access to Ground News, a platform designed to help readers compare coverage across thousands of news sources, review media bias and factuality ratings, and see how stories are covered across the political spectrum.
Free Estate Planning Workshop Set for April 23

One of the more practical events on the calendar is Myths and Mistakes in Estate Planning, scheduled for 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 23 in the Rocca Room. Attorney Tracy Gibson will discuss probate, beneficiary designations, wills, trusts, and power of attorney documents.
Seed Library Restocked for Spring
As gardening season approaches, Mead is reminding visitors that its Seed Library has been restocked. Free seeds are available on the second floor just outside the Imaginarium makerspace.
Mead Con Momentum Continues
The countdown to Mead Con is still building. A DIY Cosplay Bracers workshop is scheduled for 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, giving participants the chance to make custom gauntlets using provided materials or their own fabric. Beginners are welcome.
The 7th annual Mead Con itself is set for Saturday, May 2 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will include free swag, a cosplay contest, retro gaming, Halo LAN parties, comic making, Werewolf sessions, mini painting, Pokemon card creation, and more activities for all ages. Costumes are encouraged.
Upcoming Programs Cover Gardening, Grief Support, and Memory Care

Gardening 101 is set for 5:45 to 7:45 p.m. on Monday, April 20 in the Rocca Room, where Christina Wilke-Burbach, PhD, will teach gardening basics.

The Griefkeepers Crafting Society will meet on third Mondays in the Imaginarium and on select Sundays at WordHaven Bookstore. The gathering is designed as a safe, non-judgmental space for people ages 14 and up to find healing through creativity and community.
Also on the calendar is the Sheboygan County Memory Cafe, scheduled for 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, April 24 in the Rocca Room. Mead says the event is intended for people living with memory loss and for their families, friends, and care partners.
More Ways to Use Your Library Card

Beyond events, Mead is also encouraging residents to explore other library benefits. Readers can use the library recommendation services to get help finding their next book or movie through personalized suggestion tools, and supporters can shop the official Mead merchandise store online.
Mead also notes that its programs are free thanks to support from the Friends of Mead Public Library, the Mead Public Library Foundation, the Kohler Foundation, and grants.
