Monday, Aug. 3–Friday, Aug. 7: WIS 28 bridge replacement work continues near the Onion River Tributary

Sheboygan County, WI — Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026

For the Aug. 3–Aug. 7, 2026 work week, WisDOT/511 says ongoing bridge replacement work at the Onion River Tributary will keep WIS 28 closed to through traffic between WIS 57 and County N.

Where the work is on WIS 28

WisDOT’s project materials place the closure area near the WIS 28/County N area (about 0.25 miles southwest of the intersection).

Detour route drivers should follow

WisDOT says motorists should use the signed detour routing during this phase, including travel via WIS 57 and County U as posted for the work zone.

What to expect and what to do

  • Plan extra time for trips that would normally pass through the closed segment.
  • Do not try to drive through the detour limits; follow the posted construction signs and detour routing instead.
  • Double-check WisDOT/511’s weekly updates if your commute depends on WIS 28.
