The National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan issued a new Beach Hazards Statement for Sheboygan County at 6:13 p.m. CDT Friday, September 18, warning of dangerous waves and currents along area Lake Michigan beaches.
Alert runs through late Saturday night
The statement is effective from 10 p.m. Friday, September 18, through late Saturday night, September 19. NWS forecasts waves of 5 to 7 feet, with high waves and onshore winds creating dangerous, potentially life-threatening currents.
What lakeshore visitors should do
Residents and visitors should stay out of the water during the alert period. The National Weather Service also advises avoiding piers, breakwalls and other exposed shoreline areas, where waves and currents can become especially hazardous.
