The advisory affects boaters, anglers, charter operators and other small-vessel users along the Sheboygan-area shoreline.

What the National Weather Service is reporting
The National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan office issued the marine weather message at 2:56 a.m. CDT Tuesday, September 22. It covers nearshore waters from Sheboygan to Winthrop Harbor, including the Sheboygan-to-Port Washington zone.
Forecasters expect east to northeast winds of 10 to 20 knots, with gusts up to 25 knots and waves of 4 to 7 feet. The NWS says conditions will be hazardous to small craft through the advisory period.
What boaters should do
The NWS recommends that inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller vessels, avoid navigating in the hazardous conditions. Other boaters should consider delaying departure, remaining in port or seeking safe harbor until conditions improve.
The advisory applies to Lake Michigan waters, not all land areas of Sheboygan County. Normal land-based activities are not automatically canceled. Anyone planning a boating trip should check the latest marine update before leaving port because the advisory could be extended, canceled or modified.
