Sheboygan Property Owners Can Review 2026 Assessments During Aug. 24–28 Open Book
Sheboygan, WI — August 18, 2026.
City of Sheboygan property owners will have a limited opportunity to review their 2026 assessment information during the city’s Open Book period from Monday, August 24, through Friday, August 28.
The city mailed 2026 real estate assessment notices on Monday, August 10. Open Book gives property owners a chance to compare property information with similar properties, ask questions and discuss concerns with assessment staff before the formal Board of Review process.
Open Book schedule
- Monday, August 24, through Thursday, August 27: 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Friday, August 28: 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.
The City of Sheboygan says Open Book will be handled mostly by email or phone, with limited in-office appointments available. Appointments are strongly encouraged. Property owners should contact the Assessment Department before the review period ends.
How to participate
The Assessment Department can be reached at 920-459-3388. The city prefers that property owners use email before the Open Book period closes, although the city’s notice also provides for limited in-office appointments.
Open Book is an information and discussion period—not the formal appeal hearing. Assessment staff may review property details, explain how information is used and discuss questions about the 2026 assessment.
What happens after Open Book
The city says property owners may receive determination letters after their concerns are reviewed. Owners who still believe a formal objection is necessary will need to proceed to the Board of Review.
Sheboygan’s 2026 Board of Review is scheduled for Tuesday, October 13, from 9 to 11 a.m. at City Hall, 828 Center Avenue. The meeting is by appointment only. The formal process requires an objection form, an appointment and at least 48 hours’ notice.
Property owners should keep in mind that an assessed value and a final property tax bill are related but are not the same thing. Questions about the assessment should go to the Assessment Department. Formal Board of Review arrangements involve the city’s clerk and assessment offices.
