Beach Hazards Statement: The National Weather Service says the statement remains in effect for Sheboygan and Ozaukee Counties from 1 PM CDT Monday, July 20, 2026 through Tuesday morning.

What NWS says to expect at area beaches

  • Life-threatening surf and waves: 3 to 5 feet waves expected.
  • Dangerous currents: strong structural and longshore currents are expected.
  • High swim risk: NWS flags high swim risk for beaches Monday afternoon and evening.

NWS also warns that rip currents are possible during the statement period. Dangerous swimming conditions are expected due to high waves and onshore winds.

What readers should do Monday

The main safety guidance is clear: stay out of the water and stay away from dangerous areas like piers and breakwalls.

With strong currents possible, keep kids and pets well back from the shoreline and avoid areas where currents can form, including river outlets.
