Tuesday, August 11: Dense Fog Advisory Covers Sheboygan Nearshore Waters Until 10 a.m.

A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect for Lake Michigan nearshore waters off Sheboygan and south toward North Point Lighthouse until 10 a.m. CDT Tuesday, August 11, according to the National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan office.
The advisory includes the Sheboygan-to-Port Washington nearshore zone and the connected Port Washington-to-North Point Light zone. Dense fog may reduce visibility to 1 nautical mile or less, making navigation difficult for boaters, anglers, charter operators and other mariners using the lake near Sheboygan.
What mariners should do before leaving
The NWS advises mariners to proceed cautiously, use proper fog signals, keep running lights on, and use radar and a compass. Slower speeds and extra attention may be needed while visibility remains limited.
The NWS nearshore marine forecast issued at 3:10 a.m. CDT called for patchy dense fog during the morning, near-calm conditions and waves around 1 foot in the Sheboygan-to-Port Washington zone.
On land, the NWS Sheboygan County forecast reported fog and mist at Sheboygan County Memorial Airport at 6:53 a.m. CDT, with patchy fog continuing during the morning. The marine advisory applies to the nearshore waters, not to all land areas of Sheboygan County.
Unless the NWS updates or extends it, the marine advisory ends at 10 a.m. CDT Tuesday. Mariners should check the latest NWS marine alert before departing.
