A National Weather Service Beach Hazards Statement applies to Sheboygan County beaches along Lake Michigan from Tuesday afternoon through Tuesday evening, August 4.
The Milwaukee/Sullivan NWS office issued the statement at 5:05 p.m. CDT Monday, August 3. The active period is approximately 2 to 10 p.m. Tuesday.
3- to 5-foot waves and dangerous currents expected
The statement calls for life-threatening waves of 3 to 5 feet, dangerous currents, strong structural and longshore currents, and possible rip currents. High waves and onshore winds are expected to create dangerous swimming conditions along the Sheboygan County lakeshore.

What lakeshore visitors should do
Stay out of the water during the alert period. The NWS also advises people to stay away from piers and breakwalls, where high waves and strong currents can create additional hazards for swimmers, anglers, beach visitors, and families.
