What NWS is watching for Tuesday, August 25
In an Area Forecast Discussion issued at 11:54 a.m. CDT Sunday, August 23, NWS Milwaukee/Sullivan said a brief period of Small Craft Advisory conditions remains possible Tuesday afternoon and may continue into Tuesday evening.
The agency said it is still uncertain whether conditions will be sustained and widespread enough for a formal advisory. No Small Craft Advisory is currently in effect for the Sheboygan-area waters.
Where the marine concern is focused
The local nearshore zone runs from Sheboygan to Port Washington. The broader NWS Hazardous Weather Outlook, issued at 11:56 a.m. CDT Sunday, covers Lake Michigan nearshore waters south to Winthrop Harbor, Illinois.
The greatest potential for advisory-level conditions is north of North Point. The forecast does not place all Sheboygan County communities or all nearshore waters under an active advisory.
What boaters should do next
Anyone planning a Tuesday afternoon or evening trip should check the latest NWS nearshore marine forecast and look for any formal Small Craft Advisory before leaving shore. Conditions and headline decisions may become clearer in later updates.
NWS also expects shower and thunderstorm chances to return Tuesday evening into Wednesday. That adds another reason for lake users to monitor updated forecasts and conditions as plans get closer.
