United Way of Sheboygan County Awards $40,000 in 2026 Innovation Grants

United Way of Sheboygan County announced it has awarded $40,000 through its 2026 Innovation Grant program to three local initiatives focused on essential needs across Sheboygan County.

$40,000 total: three essential-needs projects

According to United Way, the 2026 Innovation Grants include:

  • $10,000 for a Wesley House community garden project tied to at-risk youth engagement and family connection.
  • $10,000 to expand youth financial literacy opportunities.
  • $20,000 to strengthen English literacy support through local services.

Wesley House garden planned at 829 Union Avenue

One of the announced projects will be installed at the Wesley House location at 829 Union Avenue in Sheboygan. Sheboygan County lists the Student Engagement Team alongside Families + Neighbors Together at the Wesley House, matching the placement described in the United Way announcement.

United Way says the grant will support a community-based garden designed to involve at-risk youth and help build stronger family connections. The announcement also highlights renter-friendly take-home garden kits to make participation more accessible for families who may not have garden space at home.

More youth financial literacy + more English learning access

Two additional recipients will use the Innovation Grant funds to expand learning supports:

  • $10,000 for Sheboygan Area Black American Community Outreach to expand youth financial literacy opportunities.
  • $20,000 for Family Resource Center of Sheboygan County to expand English literacy efforts.

For families and caregivers in Sheboygan County, the practical takeaway is clear: these Innovation Grants are designed to pilot and expand essential-needs supports—using hands-on community connections, youth learning opportunities, and improved access to English literacy resources.
