Dangerous currents expected along the lakeshore
The NWS Milwaukee/Sullivan office issued the statement at 12:40 p.m. CDT Monday, August 24. The agency expects life-threatening waves up to 4 feet, along with dangerous currents caused by high waves and onshore winds.
Strong structural and longshore currents are expected, and rip currents are possible. The statement applies to beaches and shoreline areas along Lake Michigan in Sheboygan County.
What lakeshore visitors should do
The NWS advises people to stay out of the water and away from piers, breakwalls and other dangerous shoreline structures during the 4:00–10:00 p.m. Tuesday window. Families, anglers, boaters and visitors planning a Lake Michigan outing should check updated beach-hazard information before leaving home.
