PM2.5 Advisory for Sheboygan County runs Tue. July 14–Thu. July 16; Heat Advisory overlaps
Sheboygan County, WI — July 14, 2026
Sheboygan-area families planning errands, school-related activities, workouts, and other outdoor time this week should factor in overlapping health risks: worsening fine-particle (PM2.5) air quality and a Heat Advisory during parts of Tuesday evening into Wednesday night.
PM2.5 Air Quality Advisory (includes Sheboygan County)
The National Weather Service is relaying Wisconsin DNR’s statewide PM2.5 Air Quality Advisory, which explicitly includes Sheboygan County.
Timing: From noon Tuesday, July 14, until noon Thursday, July 16.
Expected AQI levels: PM2.5 is expected to reach “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups” (Orange) through “Very Unhealthy” (Purple). A “Hazardous” (Maroon) NowCast AQI may also be possible.
Smoke timing clue for Wednesday: NWS notes smoke is expected to enter northern Wisconsin between 8 p.m. and midnight Tuesday night, and then push south, approximately reaching an Eau Claire to Sheboygan line by noon Wednesday.
Heat Advisory also in effect locally
For the Sheboygan area, the NWS shows a Heat Advisory running Tuesday, July 14 at 5:18 p.m. until Wednesday, July 15 at 8:00 p.m.
What to do if you’re outside
- Sensitive groups (people with asthma or heart/lung disease, older adults, and kids/teens): During the advisory window, limit outdoor physical activity, take more breaks, and watch for symptoms like coughing or shortness of breath. If air turns Very Unhealthy, avoid outdoor physical activity.
- Everyone else: Limit outdoor exertion. If you develop symptoms, go indoors and reduce activity.
- If conditions are very unhealthy: Wisconsin DHS says N95 masks can help filter PM2.5 (fine particle smoke) when you must be outdoors.
- Heat safety matters too: Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room when possible, and check on neighbors who may be more at risk.
For the latest air-quality monitoring, follow the NWS advisory relay and Wisconsin’s AQI guidance.
