Solar Project Application Under Review
The Town of Lyndon Plan Commission is reviewing a Conditional Use Permit application from SunVest Solar, LLC for a proposed 5-megawatt solar facility near the intersection of County Road V and State Highway 28. The application materials, including updated site plans and landscape screening documents, were posted March 2.
Town officials are working with the applicant to finalize permit conditions before sending a recommendation to the Town Board. A public hearing notice is expected once the Board is ready to consider the Plan Commission’s recommendation. Residents who live near the CTH V and STH 28 corridor should watch for posted notices regarding hearing dates and comment opportunities.
Road Work & Transportation
I-43 Reconstruction Begins
Major reconstruction work on Interstate 43 in Sheboygan County began March 2. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation project includes pavement replacement, structure maintenance, slope grading, and updated signage.
Initial activity focuses on tree clearing and right-of-way fencing, with minimal traffic disruption. However, longer-term lane closures are expected to begin around mid-March and continue into summer. Intermittent closures are planned through fall, with particularly disruptive work anticipated later this year at the I-43 and Highway 23 interchange.
For Town of Lyndon residents who commute toward Sheboygan or use I-43 for regional travel, officials recommend allowing extra time and monitoring project updates as construction phases shift. Weather permitting, work is expected to continue into late October or early November.
What This Means Locally
Both developments have direct implications for Town of Lyndon residents. The proposed solar installation could affect nearby landowners and future land use decisions along the Highway 28 corridor. Meanwhile, I-43 improvements may influence commute times, school transportation routes, and access to employment centers throughout Sheboygan County.
Residents are encouraged to stay engaged by reviewing posted documents, attending public hearings when scheduled, and checking state transportation updates before traveling.
