Help Remove Invasive Plants at Kohler-Andrae
Two volunteer sessions will target invasive shrubs along the Black River Trail during Invasive Species Weekend.
SHEBOYGAN, WI — Volunteers can help restore woodland habitat at Kohler-Andrae State Park during two Out with Invasives work sessions on Saturday, June 20, and Sunday, June 21.
Crews will remove plants such as buckthorn, honeysuckle, Japanese barberry and multiflora rose along the Black River Trail. Clearing those aggressive species gives native wildflowers and other plants more room to recover.
The Saturday session runs from 9 a.m. to noon, and the Sunday session runs from 1 to 4 p.m. Participants must be at least 16. Leather gloves are recommended; tools and some gloves will be available. Volunteers should also bring water, sunscreen and insect repellent and wear long pants, long sleeves and closed-toe shoes.
Call 920-451-4080 to register. Vehicle admission is free for registered volunteers, and the work is weather-dependent.
