Town of Sherman, Weekly: Spring Election, Annual Meeting, I-43 Work
The first week of April brings key civic dates and major roadwork updates for Town of Sherman residents. Here’s what to know heading into the new week.
Spring Election Set for April 7
The Spring Election will be held Tuesday, April 7, with polls open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Town of Sherman polling location.
Recent in-person absentee voting opportunities wrapped up this past week, along with a public test of election equipment. Residents who still need to vote will do so on Election Day. As always, bring a valid photo ID and allow extra travel time if weather or farm equipment traffic slows rural roads.
The town has also been recruiting election inspectors for the 2026–2027 cycle, signaling continued focus on maintaining adequate staffing at the polls.
Annual Meeting and Open Book Dates
Looking ahead, the Town of Sherman Annual Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 21 at 6:00 p.m., with the regular April monthly board meeting to immediately follow.
Property owners should also note two key assessment-related dates: Open Book is scheduled for April 13 from 8 to 10 a.m., and the Board of Review is set for May 7 from 4 to 6 p.m. These sessions allow residents to review and, if necessary, formally challenge property assessments.
Town board discussions earlier this year included updates on road equipment repairs and ongoing cost pressures related to fire and ambulance services at the county level — topics that may resurface during spring meetings as budget planning and summer project estimates take shape.
I-43 Construction Underway in Sheboygan County
Drivers traveling east toward Sheboygan or south toward Ozaukee County should be aware that a major Interstate 43 resurfacing and structure rehabilitation project began in early March.
The $21 million project covers approximately 10 miles of I-43 from Wilson/Lima Road in the Town of Wilson to WIS 42 in the Town of Sheboygan. Construction activity is expected to continue through the 2026 season.
While the work zone is east of Sherman, residents who commute for jobs, shopping, or medical appointments may encounter lane shifts, reduced speeds, and periodic ramp impacts. Checking 511WI before longer trips is recommended as seasonal travel ramps up.
Spring Road Season Begins
With frost leaving the ground and daytime highs hovering around 50 degrees this weekend, the town’s rural road network is entering its typical spring maintenance window.
Earlier board updates referenced equipment repairs and shop maintenance, positioning the town for grading, patching, and shoulder work as conditions allow. Residents should expect to see more heavy equipment on town roads in the coming weeks.
As April gets underway, the focus in Sherman is squarely on elections, assessments, and the start of the construction season — both locally and across Sheboygan County.
