Sheboygan Voters’ Guide Released; Comprehensive Plan Open Houses Set
Sheboygan residents have several important civic dates ahead, with the April 7 spring election approaching and a major city planning milestone set for next week. Here is what changed and what to mark on your calendar.
April 7 Election: Candidate Priorities
Ahead of the April 7, 2026 spring election, candidates for Sheboygan Common Council and Sheboygan County Board seats have shared their priorities in a new local voters’ guide. Topics include housing affordability, infrastructure maintenance, public safety staffing and long-term economic development.
For city voters, council races will help shape decisions on neighborhood investment, capital improvement projects and how Sheboygan balances growth with quality-of-life concerns. County Board candidates are weighing in on budget discipline, health and human services oversight, and support for law enforcement and emergency response.
Absentee voting is already underway, and residents can confirm polling locations and registration status through the City of Sheboygan Clerk’s office or the state’s MyVote website. Election Day is Tuesday, April 7. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
City to Host March 19 Comprehensive Plan Open Houses
The City of Sheboygan will host public open houses on Wednesday, March 19 to gather feedback on its draft Comprehensive Plan. The document will guide land use, transportation, housing, parks and economic development decisions over the coming decades.
City officials are encouraging residents, business owners and neighborhood groups to review the draft and provide input before it advances to formal hearings later this year. Comprehensive plans influence everything from zoning updates to redevelopment priorities and infrastructure investment.
Community members can attend one of the scheduled sessions to review maps and proposed policies, ask questions of planning staff and submit comments. Feedback collected during the open houses may shape revisions before the plan goes to the Plan Commission and Common Council for consideration.
Community Conversation Continues
Recent letters to the editor in local media reflect heightened community engagement ahead of the election, with residents discussing voter registration access, presidential term limits and the impact of data centers and development on Wisconsin communities. While opinion pieces do not represent official policy, they underscore active civic debate as Sheboygan heads into the spring voting season.
With major planning decisions and local races on the ballot, the next few weeks offer multiple opportunities for residents to weigh in—whether at the polls or at City Hall.
