Sheboygan, News Brief February 25, 2026
Local government
Sheboygan City Hall hosted a full slate of committee meetings Monday, including the Housing Authority, Licensing/Hearings/Public Safety, Public Works, and Finance & Personnel. Residents looking to track items discussed (or see what is coming next) can use the city’s Municode meetings portal to pull agendas, packets, and videos when posted.
The Municode portal also lists a City Plan Commission meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 24, which often includes development reviews and land-use items that can affect nearby neighborhoods.
Road work + city services
The City of Sheboygan Department of Public Works reports no current street closures on its service dashboard, but it did post a service interruption for today: the Residential Recycling Center at 2026 New Jersey Avenue is closed Wednesday, Feb. 25, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. while DPW conducts branch grinding operations. DPW also posted the week’s recycling center schedule (Feb. 23–28) for anyone planning drop-offs around the closure.
Schools
The Sheboygan Area School District’s calendar shows key late-February dates for families, including a Board of Education regular meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 24, and parent-teacher conference days (with no school for students) on Friday, Feb. 27. If you’re juggling childcare, activities, and transportation, it’s a good time to double-check the district calendar for building-specific events and any last-minute updates.
Public safety
The Sheboygan Police Department announced an update to its customer service desk hours: starting Monday, March 2, the front desk will be open Monday–Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The department noted this change is specific to the customer service desk and does not change emergency response; residents needing help outside desk hours are directed to the non-emergency line, with 911 for emergencies.
Community events
Mead Public Library is hosting February programming tied to America’s 250th anniversary, including a traveling exhibit on display Feb. 7–28 and related programs such as a genealogy workshop and family activities. These events are a local way to connect Sheboygan County history with hands-on learning, and several programs are designed for families and intergenerational participation.
