Black Pig & Berkshire Take Center Stage at Sheboygan Film Festival Kickoff

SHEBOYGAN, WI — Sheboygan’s culinary and cultural scene is about to share the spotlight as the city launches its first-ever Sheboygan Film Festival (SFF), running October 2–5, 2025. Two of downtown’s most iconic venues — The Black Pig and The Berkshire — will host signature events that set the tone for the festival.
On Thursday, October 2, The Black Pig will welcome visiting filmmakers and special guests for an exclusive Filmmakers’ Dinner, showcasing Chef Rob Hurrie’s commitment to scratch-made dining and true hospitality. The following evening, Friday, October 3, The Berkshire will transform into the stage for Sips and Cinema — a one-of-a-kind film screening paired with wines from the same countries where the featured films were produced.
Festival chair Beah Travis of the Belladonna Film Project said the venues “are two wonderful examples of what Sheboygan has to offer,” emphasizing how the festival aims to highlight not only cinema but also the city’s culture and hospitality.
Chef Hurrie, who opened The Black Pig in 2013 and expanded with The Berkshire in 2017, has long been a cornerstone of Sheboygan dining. “For Rob and his team, it’s not just about the food or the service — it’s about hospitality,” said Nikki Rieck of Power Up Marketing, adding that the festival offers “an opportunity to do something for the community that will showcase what we have to offer.”
The Sheboygan Film Festival is organized by the Belladonna Film Project, a nonprofit dedicated to independent film in the Midwest. The four-day festival will feature dramatic and documentary films, shorts, children’s programming, filmmaker conversations, and panels, cementing Sheboygan as the “Malibu of the Midwest” for film lovers.
