The GameBoard Partners with Tributary Beer Garden
New collaboration encourages community connection through games and shared experiences.
SHEBOYGAN, WI — June 1, 2026 — The GameBoard, Sheboygan’s premier game store that globally reimagined gameplay, has launched a new partnership with Tributary Beer Garden designed to bring more opportunities for connection and social interaction to the local community. As part of the new relationship, The GameBoard also sponsored Tributary Beer Garden’s membership with the Sheboygan County Chamber of Commerce, reinforcing the importance of local businesses supporting one another and investing back into the community.
“The best moments often happen when people put their phones down and spend time together,” said Lynn Potyen, owner of The GameBoard. “Games have a way of naturally bringing people together, whether you’ve known someone for years or just met them five minutes ago. We love the idea of creating spaces throughout the community where people can connect, relax, and simply enjoy being around one another.”
As part of the partnership, patrons visiting Tributary Beer Garden nestled within Kiwanis Park along a gentle bend in the Sheboygan River, can now enjoy a selection of games provided by The GameBoard while gathering with friends and family at the outdoor venue. Known for its welcoming atmosphere, open gathering spaces, and community-centered approach, Tributary Beer Garden blends craft beverages, exceptional service, and local connection in a setting designed to bring people together.
“Along with offering beverage and service excellence, our goal at Tributary Beer Garden is to provide a welcoming and engaging space for the community.” said Jake Bray, Co-founder and Director of Operations of Tributary Beer Garden. “This goal immediately resonated with Lynn and The GameBoard, and partnering with them will help us offer our guests the chance to connect with one another in a fun and unique way with games that are easy to learn and play.”
The partnership also connects to The GameBoard’s newly updated Passport program, now available for community members to pick up at The GameBoard. The new passport features new businesses, destinations, and opportunities to explore throughout the region. Included in the passport is a special “Stout Time Out” insert highlighting participating establishments, including Tributary Beer Garden, while encouraging residents and visitors alike to discover new experiences and support local businesses.
For Potyen, the partnership reflects a continued commitment to helping people reconnect through face-to-face interaction and shared experiences. Since opening in downtown Sheboygan in 2006, The GameBoard has consistently promoted the educational, therapeutic, and social benefits of tabletop gaming for people of all ages.

About The GameBoard
The GameBoard was founded in 2006 by Lynn Potyen, an award-winning proprietor, after her son was diagnosed with a severe speech delay. Through his journey, she was able to connect his therapy to the games they played at home. Since then, studies have shown that playing games together enhances creativity, fosters communication and socialization, and builds emotional skills and cognitive learning ability. Potyen is an outspoken advocate for using board games in education, therapy, and corporate team building. Her story is archived in the Library of Congress and in the 2023 book “What Board Games Mean to Me,” where she is part of an anthology featuring 28 voices from around the world.
