Tuesday, September 15: Small Craft Advisory Covers Lake Michigan Near Sheboygan Through 7 p.m.
Sheboygan County, Wisconsin — September 15, 2026.
A Small Craft Advisory is active for Lake Michigan nearshore waters from Washington Island to Sheboygan through 7 p.m. CDT Tuesday, September 15. The affected waters include the nearshore area adjacent to Sheboygan County.
The National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan issued the advisory at 5:17 a.m. CDT Tuesday. Southwest winds of 15 to 25 knots are expected to veer west, with gusts up to 30 knots and waves from 6 to 11 feet.
What boaters should know
The weather service warns that strong winds and hazardous waves could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility. Smaller boats and inexperienced mariners should avoid operating in these conditions.
Boaters should delay departure, remain in port, seek safe harbor, or secure vessels until conditions improve. This is a marine alert for nearshore waters, not a countywide land-weather warning.
What changed from the overnight alert
The overnight Gale Warning was canceled and replaced by the Small Craft Advisory. Marine conditions can change before the 7 p.m. expiration, so boaters should check the latest National Weather Service update before making plans.
