Sheboygan County, Wis. — Aug. 21, 2026 — United Way of Sheboygan County has opened registration for its 2026 Day of Caring, giving residents, employers and community groups a chance to spend Thursday, September 24, helping local nonprofits and community-serving organizations.
The countywide volunteer event is organized by United Way of Sheboygan County through the Volunteer Center of Sheboygan County. Individuals and teams can review available projects and register for opportunities supporting local organizations, parks, schools, neighborhoods and community services.
Volunteer projects run across Sheboygan County
Current listings include projects connected with Compassion Season, Uptown Social, YMCA Camp Y-Koda, Wade House, Meals on Wheels, Lakeshore CAP, Rebuilding Together Sheboygan County and Habitat for Humanity Lakeside.
Projects are listed in multiple Sheboygan County communities, including Sheboygan, Plymouth, Kohler, Sheboygan Falls, Elkhart Lake, Oostburg and Greenbush. Each listing provides the specific location, schedule, requirements and remaining capacity, so volunteers should check the individual project page before signing up.
Choose a morning, afternoon or full-day project
United Way lists three general time blocks for the event: morning projects from 9 a.m. to noon, afternoon projects from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m., and full-day projects from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Full-day project hosts must provide lunch for volunteers.
Nonprofits and other community-serving agencies can also participate by submitting volunteer projects through the Volunteer Center. That option helps local organizations turn needed work into organized service opportunities for companies, families and individuals.
Last year’s event showed the local reach
The 2025 Day of Caring involved 1,300 volunteers from 29 companies working at 41 project locations. United Way reported 4,800 service hours, $12,100 in project grants and nearly $167,000 in local economic impact from last year’s event.
Those figures are background from the 2025 event, not current totals for 2026. Registration availability may change as projects fill, and volunteers should confirm the details for their preferred opportunity before making plans.
Residents, employers and nonprofit groups can begin through the Volunteer Center of Sheboygan County’s Day of Caring registration page. Project schedules, locations, requirements and remaining spots are listed there.
