Safe Harbor of Sheboygan County Welcomes New CEO Jeanne McLellan
Sheboygan, WI – October 20, 2025 — Safe Harbor of Sheboygan County has announced an upcoming leadership transition as longtime Executive Director Deborah Lee prepares to step down at the end of the year. Jeanne McLellan, a seasoned nonprofit leader with more than two decades of experience, will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) effective November 3, 2025.
McLellan joins Safe Harbor after serving as Executive Director of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Dane County. She holds an MBA and CNAP certification and is recognized for her commitment to community engagement, equity, and accessibility for underserved populations. Her background includes staff and volunteer leadership roles across multiple nonprofit organizations, fostering collaboration and organizational growth. Beyond her professional work, she actively volunteers and serves on the board of the Canopy Center.
As the new CEO, McLellan will guide Safe Harbor’s ongoing mission to provide safety, support, and advocacy for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Her focus will include strengthening programs, expanding partnerships, and advancing community outreach throughout Sheboygan County.
Outgoing Executive Director Deborah Lee, who joined Safe Harbor in 2014 and became Executive Director in 2020, leaves behind a strong legacy of growth. During her tenure, the organization deepened its community impact through expanded services, advocacy, and education.

Safe Harbor provides essential services for individuals affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, and sex trafficking in Sheboygan County. The organization offers education, advocacy, and therapy to those in crisis and collaborates closely with local partners to promote safety and awareness.
