Town of Greenbush, Weekly News Brief (Sheboygan County Focus)
Major I-43 Construction Underway in Sheboygan County
A major Wisconsin Department of Transportation project is now underway that will affect Town of Greenbush residents who travel north toward Sheboygan or south toward the Milwaukee area.
Work began March 2 on a 10.4-mile stretch of I-43 between Wilson/Lima Road in the Town of Wilson and WIS 42 in the Town of Sheboygan. The $21 million project includes resurfacing, bridge maintenance on nine structures, guardrail and sign structure upgrades, and pavement marking improvements.
Drivers should expect reduced lanes in both directions and periodic ramp closures through the fall construction season. For Greenbush residents commuting to jobs, medical appointments, or schools along the I-43 corridor, extra travel time should be planned.
The project is designed to extend pavement life and improve overall roadway safety with updated barriers and smoother driving surfaces.
County Emergency Planning Update
The Sheboygan County Local Emergency Planning Committee met February 27 and included a public health update as part of its agenda. The committee coordinates emergency response planning across the county, including rural communities like the Town of Greenbush.
Topics typically addressed by the committee include hazardous materials planning, communication protocols, and coordination between fire departments, EMS, law enforcement, and public health agencies. While no town-specific actions were announced, county-level planning efforts directly support emergency preparedness for Greenbush residents.
Residents are encouraged to stay aware of county alerts and emergency notifications, especially as spring approaches and weather-related incidents can increase.
What Greenbush Residents Should Watch
With spring on the horizon, road construction season is beginning across Sheboygan County. I-43 improvements are the most significant current project affecting area traffic flow. Those who rely on the interstate for access to Plymouth, Sheboygan, or connections beyond the county should monitor state transportation updates.
Additionally, county emergency coordination remains active as agencies prepare for severe weather season. Staying informed through official county channels can help residents respond quickly to road closures, storm events, or public safety advisories.
As always, residents should check official town postings and the Town of Greenbush website for meeting notices and local updates as they are published.
