Sheboygan Theatre Company is kicking off its 92nd season by welcoming the community to Embodying Creativity: A Theatre Workshop Series this summer. Thanks to support from the Wisconsin Arts Board’s Creative Communities Grant, STC has designed three hands-on days of dynamic training in performance, communication, and confidence—skills that help on stage and in everyday life.
“Our goal is to open the doors of theatre to everyone in our region,” said Tricia Roberts, STC’s Executive Director. “Whether you dream of performing or simply want to strengthen your presence in meetings and presentations, these workshops are an opportunity to learn directly from seasoned professionals—and to connect with fellow creatives in Sheboygan.”
Each day features a targeted focus:
- Stage Combat (July 22): Learn safe, realistic fight choreography—from slaps to kicks—under the guidance of Ball State emeritus professor Michael Daehn and theatre alum Brandon Otten.
- Auditioning Skills (July 23): Build a standout audition book, master your slate and monologue, and dive into the “business side” of casting with touring educator Abi Charbonneau.
- Post-Casting Prep (July 24): Explore improv techniques, active listening, and rehearsal strategies with director-educator Sheila Ryan to keep performances fresh and responsive.
Whether you’re an aspiring actor, a public-speaking novice, or a business professional looking to polish your presentation skills, there’s something here for you. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged.
Founded in 1934 and run by volunteers alongside a dedicated advisory committee, Sheboygan Theatre Company stages four main-stage productions each season and offers year-round training to strengthen our community’s creative spirit.
