Elktoberfest Wine & Beer Run 5K Kicks Off the Festivities in Elkhart Lake
The best way to start a day of Oktoberfest celebrations? With a run—and a toast at the finish line. On Saturday, September 20, at 9:00 AM, downtown Elkhart Lake’s Village Square (41 E. Rhine Street) hosts the Elktoberfest Wine & Beer Run 5K, a fun event that blends fitness with festival cheer.
This unique race welcomes runners and walkers alike to lace up their sneakers and enjoy a scenic route through Elkhart Lake. But the highlight comes at the end: participants celebrate crossing the finish line with their choice of a glass of wine or craft beer. This year’s beverages are provided by Vintage Elkhart Lake and 3 Sheeps Brewing, adding a distinctly local flavor to the reward.
The Wine & Beer Run isn’t about who’s the fastest—it’s about community, celebration, and fun. Many participants run in festive gear, donning lederhosen, dirndls, or costumes to keep the spirit of Oktoberfest alive. Whether you’re chasing a personal record or just here for the after-party, the atmosphere is upbeat and welcoming.
Same-day registration will be available starting at 8:00 AM near the Village Square, but participants are encouraged to register early online to secure a spot. Runners must be 21 or older to enjoy the post-race drink, though younger participants are welcome to take part in the run itself.
For locals and visitors alike, the Elktoberfest Wine & Beer Run 5K is the perfect way to combine exercise, celebration, and community spirit—all before diving into the daylong Oktoberfest festivities.
