The City of Sheboygan Public Works project for 2026 street improvements is active this week, with Clara Avenue closed to through traffic between South 14th Street and South 7th Street.
Project timing and what to expect
City notice details the work starting Monday, July 13, 2026. The project includes storm sewer improvements, crosswalk work at South 13th Street and South 8th Street, curb and gutter repairs, and milling and asphalt paving. The work is tentatively scheduled to be completed by the end of August, and scheduling is weather-dependent.
Truck detour for the Clara Avenue block between South 8th and South 7th
A temporary truck route detour is posted for the Clara Avenue block between South 8th Street and South 7th Street. The City says the detour uses:
- South 8th Street → Broadway → South 7th Street (back to Clara Avenue)
The City says the truck detour will remain in place until all construction activities are complete.
Access for residents (driveways may be limited at times)
City guidance says residents in the construction area will have access during construction. However, there will be limited times during pavement removals and placement of new concrete when driveway access may not be available.
