Sheboygan’s Citizens Fire Academy applications due July 27

The City of Sheboygan is accepting applications for the Sheboygan Fire Department’s Citizens Fire Academy, a community program that lets residents learn how local fire and EMS operations work.
Deadline: Monday, July 27, 2026 at 8:00 A.M.
To participate, applications must be submitted by Monday, July 27, 2026 at 8:00 A.M. The program runs for 7 weeks, with classes held on Tuesday nights from 6:00–9:00 P.M.
When and where
- Class dates: Sept. 15 through Oct. 27, 2026
- Time: Tuesday nights, 6:00–9:00 P.M.
- Location: Fire Department Headquarters, Station 3, 1326 N 25 St, Sheboygan
What participants can expect
According to the City’s Citizens Fire Academy overview, the academy includes learning and practice focused on both fire and EMS operations, including:
- Department history and equipment/gear
- Ambulance tours
- Hands-on AED use practice
- Watching patient care demonstrations
- Using EMS tools on training mannequins (no blood)
- Using the Jaws of Life on a real car
- Technical rescues training
- Fire scene operations such as search & rescue, hydrants, hose and ladder
- Fire Prevention Bureau topics, investigations, and home fire safety
- Time to ask questions of the crew
