New Berlin rejects $3.12 million police and fire referendum
New Berlin voters rejected additional police and fire funding Tuesday. WISN/Hearst’s unofficial returns showed 11,908 no votes, or 56.19%, against 9,285 yes votes, with all 21 precincts reporting.
The city sought authority to exceed its annual levy limit by $3,122,149 on an ongoing basis. The proposed funding would have added 12 firefighter/paramedics, a division chief and three police officers, along with other staffing support, according to the city.
