Sheboygan County Committee Set to Consider $2,800 Wetland Credit Sale
Sheboygan County, Wisconsin — October 2, 2026.
Sheboygan County’s Executive Committee is scheduled to consider a recommended $2,800 sale of wetland mitigation credits to the City of Sheboygan at its 9:30 a.m. meeting Friday, Oct. 2. As of the 8:20 a.m. research check, the proposal was pending committee consideration—not an approved sale.
The credits would support a proposed new road serving a subdivision on Sheboygan’s south side. The county agenda packet says the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers granted the permissions needed to proceed with the credit purchase. That statement does not establish that the committee approved the sale or that the road or subdivision has final approval.
How the recommended price is calculated
The Planning and Conservation memorandum recommends selling 0.04 fresh-wet-meadow mitigation credits. At the stated market rate of $100,000 per credit, that amount totals $4,000 before the county’s 30% municipal discount. The recommended price after the discount is $2,800.
The memorandum describes this as additional credit need for the same project associated with an earlier bank sale. The item before the committee on Oct. 2 is the additional sale recommendation, not a report that this new sale has already been completed.
Meeting details and what comes next
The committee meeting is listed for 9:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2, at the County Administration Building, 508 New York Ave., Room 302, in Sheboygan. The agenda packet was posted Sept. 30, and the memorandum is dated Oct. 2.
Residents following the proposed southside road project can check the county’s official meeting records for the committee’s decision. The packet does not provide a construction schedule for the road, and the recommended credit price should not be treated as a completed transaction.
