Sheboygan County is taking applications for a citizen appointment to the Health & Human Services Committee. The county says it is prioritizing candidates who are a registered nurse or a physician. The committee helps oversee county health and human services programs that many residents rely on, including public health, behavioral health services, and supports for older adults.

If you’re eligible and interested, the county is asking applicants to submit a letter of interest and any required background materials by the stated deadline.

Public safety

A large mutual-aid response was dispatched to a house fire in the Village of Waldo on Thursday. Multiple Sheboygan County fire departments assisted, and authorities reported no one was inside the home when crews arrived. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

For Town of Herman residents, it’s also a wintertime reminder: cold-weather conditions can slow response and complicate travel. Keep access points clear for emergency vehicles and make sure address numbers are easy to spot from the road.

Courts & community safety watch

A preliminary hearing in a Sheboygan homicide case has been rescheduled for Wednesday, February 25, 2026. While the incident occurred in the City of Sheboygan, court scheduling and case movement are countywide public-safety signals that can be worth monitoring across Sheboygan County, including the Town of Herman.

With temperatures staying near freezing this weekend, expect variable driving conditions on rural routes—especially early mornings and after any light snow. If you’re out on town and county roads, give plows room and allow extra braking distance.
