Adell, Weekly News Brief (Sheboygan County Focus)
Road work
I-43 resurfacing and bridge work starts March 2
A major WisDOT work zone on I-43 is set to begin Monday, March 2, covering about 10 miles from Wilson/Lima Road (Town of Wilson) north to WIS 42 (Town of Sheboygan). For Adell-area drivers, this is a key corridor for commuting, medical appointments, and trips toward Sheboygan and Kohler.
WisDOT’s project overview indicates work will begin with tree clearing and right-of-way fencing, followed by structure work in mid-March. Traffic is expected to be reduced to one lane in portions of the work zone, with long-term lane closures anticipated from mid-March into July. The project is scheduled to finish in late October 2026 (with additional staging details extending into November in the full overview materials).
What to watch for if you routinely use I-43:
- Lane reductions and delays: Long-term and intermittent lane closures may slow travel, especially during peak times.
- Ramp closures: The project materials note multiple on- and off-ramps within the corridor will close for various periods. The full overview lists short closures (up to two consecutive days) planned for ramps at County V, WIS 28, and WIS 42 during paving operations.
- WIS 23 interchange impacts later this summer: The full overview also outlines 35-day closures (July/August) affecting the collector/distributor ramps and associated loop ramps at WIS 23, along with posted detours.
Bottom line for Adell residents: if you’re heading toward Sheboygan, Kohler, or points north on I-43 this spring and summer, build in extra time and check the project page before leaving—especially once long-term lane closures begin in mid-March.
