Monday, June 29: I-43/WIS 23 ramp closures begin in the City of Sheboygan
Sheboygan, WI — Monday, June 29, 2026
The southbound I-43 collector/distributor ramp and loop ramps at WIS 23 closed Monday morning for bridge work in the City of Sheboygan. WisDOT says this first phase is expected to last about 35 days, through early August.
What drivers need to know now
For I-43 southbound to WIS 23 eastbound traffic, the posted detour sends drivers west on WIS 23 to County Y, then back east on WIS 23. Traffic on WIS 23 westbound headed to I-43 southbound is routed to County Y, then to WIS 23 eastbound and back to I-43 southbound.
That means commuters, delivery drivers, and anyone using the interchange should expect slower trips and extra travel time while the closure is in place.
July 6 is the next date to watch
The City of Sheboygan and WisDOT also say northbound I-43 collector/distributor ramp and loop closures at WIS 23 are scheduled to begin Monday, July 6. That phase is expected to run about 35 days, through mid-August, with detours using WIS 42 and Taylor Drive.
If your route depends on WIS 23 or the I-43 interchange, check your route before leaving and build in a buffer for delays.
