Monday, July 6: WIS 28 work begins between the Town of Lyndon and Village of Kohler
Sheboygan County, Wis. — July 5, 2026
WisDOT says work on WIS 28 between WIS 57 in the Town of Lyndon and County A in the Village of Kohler starts Monday, July 6, and is scheduled to run through November 2026.
The project covers 8.9 miles and includes resurfacing, bridge replacement at the Onion River Tributary, shoulder widening, guardrail replacement, new rumble strips, and curb-and-gutter work at the WIS 28/WIS 32 roundabout.
What drivers should expect
WisDOT says WIS 28 will stay open to two-way traffic most of the time, but the corridor may be reduced to one lane with flaggers. The bridge work will require a closure and detour using WIS 57 and County U. The WIS 28/WIS 32 roundabout will also close during curb-and-gutter and paving work, with WIS 28 detoured via WIS 57, County V, and I-43, while WIS 32 traffic uses WIS 23, I-43, and County V.
Why it matters locally
That gives commuters, delivery drivers, and nearby businesses a long work zone to plan around as summer turns into fall. If you use WIS 28 regularly, check 511 Wisconsin before you leave once the detours begin Monday.
Sheboygan County’s municipalities page lists both the Town of Lyndon and the Village of Kohler as official county municipalities.
