JoCasta Zamarripa wins Wisconsin secretary of state race
Democrat JoCasta Zamarripa won Wisconsin’s secretary of state election, defeating Republican Jay Schroeder and Wisconsin Green Party candidate Pete Karas. Wisconsin Public Radio reported the Associated Press call, with unofficial percentages of 49.9%, 46.3% and 3.8%, respectively.
The Milwaukee alder and former state representative keeps the office in Democratic hands. Her campaign supported leaving election administration with the Wisconsin Elections Commission while carrying out the secretary’s existing duties, including document authentication and work involving public school funds.
