Friday, July 4, 2026: City of Sheboygan Freedom Run starts lakefront traffic restrictions at 7 a.m.
Friday, July 4, 2026 starts early in the City of Sheboygan for anyone heading toward the lakefront.
The City of Sheboygan says the Freedom Run begins at 7:30 a.m., and Broughton Drive will close at 7 a.m. from Wisconsin Avenue north and up the hill to Barrett Street. The Independence Day parade starts at 9 a.m.
The city says tarps and chairs may be placed after 5 a.m. on July 4 to save a parade spot. Anything set out earlier can be removed as abandoned property.
After the parade, Broughton Drive stays closed to vehicle traffic from Michigan Avenue south to Wisconsin Avenue, and parking is prohibited along the north side of Pennsylvania Avenue from N. 8th Street west to N. 14th Street.
Once the fireworks end, drivers should expect restrictions at the rotary intersection at S. 8th Street and Indiana Avenue. The city says northbound traffic on S. 8th Street from the roundabout will not be allowed, and traffic coming south across the 8th Street Bridge will be directed west on Indiana Avenue. Drivers leaving South Pier should plan for limited access and extra delay.
For Friday morning and the fireworks rush, the practical move is simple: leave extra time, watch for pedestrians and bicyclists, and expect limited access near the lakefront, South Pier, and the 8th Street rotary area.
