Town of Holland, Weekly News Brief (Sheboygan County Focus)
I-43 Reconstruction Underway in Sheboygan County
Major road work that will affect many Town of Holland residents is now underway on Interstate 43. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation began a long-term resurfacing and structure rehabilitation project on March 2.
The $21 million project covers roughly 10 miles of I-43 from Wilson/Lima Road in the Town of Wilson to WIS 42 in the Town of Sheboygan. Early work includes tree clearing and fencing, with longer-term lane closures expected to begin later in March.
Drivers should anticipate lane closures through the summer, with intermittent non-peak closures extending into the fall. Bridge work at the I-43 and Highway 23 interchange is expected to be among the most disruptive phases later this year. The overall project timeline runs into late October or early November, weather permitting.
Holland residents who commute toward Sheboygan, Manitowoc, or Fond du Lac via Highway 23 and I-43 should plan extra travel time as construction intensifies.
Regional Housing Development Plan Moves Forward
Sheboygan city leaders this week outlined new housing development plans aimed at addressing supply and growth needs across the region. While the proposal focuses on the City of Sheboygan, expanded housing availability and development planning can have ripple effects across Sheboygan County, including the Town of Holland.
Regional housing supply, pricing, and infrastructure planning often influence where families choose to build or relocate within nearby towns. As Sheboygan evaluates additional development, residents in Holland may see related conversations about growth patterns, commuting trends, and long-term land use.
School District Connection
The Town of Holland is served by the Oostburg School District, which includes students from both the Village of Oostburg and the surrounding Town of Holland. Families are encouraged to monitor district communications for upcoming spring activities and scheduling updates as the school year enters its final months.
Looking Ahead
With spring approaching and temperatures expected to warm into the 60s early next week, road construction activity across Sheboygan County will likely increase. Residents should watch for additional notices related to state highways and county routes that connect through Holland.
