Local government
The City of Plymouth Common Council met Tuesday, Feb. 24. Items listed for action included a public hearing on a ‘Class B’ liquor and beer license application for Semper Fi Saloon (202 Elizabeth St.), plus resolutions on promoting food-waste composting and proposed updates to the city’s functional classification system. The consent agenda also included a room tax permit for Vibrant Victorian (126 E Main St.) and a street-use permit request for the Annual Irishman’s Walk (March 17) with a route starting at 1610 Eastern Ave and ending at 228 E Mill St. The agenda also included discussion and possible action on a Well 9 proposal.
Later in the week, the Joint Review Board met Thursday, Feb. 26 to review planning documents and consider resolutions approving the creation of Tax Incremental District (TID) No. 9 and TID No. 10.
Schools
Plymouth School District families can keep an eye on the district calendar and announcements page for school activities and athletics. Recent postings included late-February events such as conferences and school activities; check the district site for the next round of dates and any schedule changes.
Community events
Plymouth Public Library’s calendar has multiple March programs posted, including Tech Help (March 3), ‘Everyday Fraud: Become A Scam Spotter’ (March 10), and youth/teen activities later in the month.
Plymouth Arts Center also has March events listed, including an exhibit opening reception (March 6), Mill Street Live second auditions (March 7 and 14), and a St. Patrick’s weekend concert event (March 13–15).
Road work & travel
Regionally, WisDOT says I-43 reconstruction in Sheboygan County is slated to begin soon, with lane reductions and ramp closures expected during the work. Plymouth-area drivers who commute to/from Sheboygan or connect to I-43 should plan extra time and watch for updates as work ramps up.
