Lakeshore College opens new 1.8 million dollar dental clinic in Cleveland, WI

Lakeshore College has officially opened its new 1.8 million dollar Dental Clinic at the Cleveland campus, creating a modern training space for students preparing for careers as dental assistants and future dental hygienists. The expansion adds enhanced classroom and lab space where students can practice real patient care skills using the same type of equipment they will see in local clinics and dental offices.

College president Dr. Paul Carlsen called the opening an exciting step forward for dental health education in the lakeshore region and thanked donors who helped make the project possible. The new clinic was funded through a mix of state support and private donations, including major gifts of 150,000 dollars from the West Foundation and 135,000 dollars from Heartland Dental.

The expanded dental lab replaces the college’s previous lab and now features individual workstations, advanced equipment, and up to date supplies. Students will be able to learn in a setting that closely mirrors a working dental practice, from chairside skills and radiography to patient communication and teamwork. The space is designed to support both the existing Dental Assisting program and a new Dental Hygiene program that Lakeshore College is preparing to launch.

Community partners, local officials from Manitowoc and Sheboygan, executives from Heartland Dental, and members of the Lakeshore College Foundation joined faculty, staff, and students to celebrate the grand opening. The ribbon cutting highlighted how the new facility will help address the ongoing shortage of oral healthcare professionals across the lakeshore area and beyond by training more graduates to step into in demand roles.

Lakeshore College serves more than 9,000 students each year at its Cleveland campus and additional locations in Manitowoc and Sheboygan. The college is nationally recognized for its two year programs and strong graduate outcomes, with associate degree graduates reporting a median salary of more than 61,000 dollars within six months of graduation.
