Small Craft Advisory starts at 4 p.m. Monday
The Small Craft Advisory covers the nearshore waters from Sheboygan to Port Washington and from Port Washington to North Point Lighthouse from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, September 14.
Southeast winds of 20 to 30 knots and waves of 5 to 8 feet are expected during the advisory period.
Gale Warning continues through Tuesday morning
The Gale Warning runs from 9 p.m. Monday, September 14, to 7 a.m. CDT Tuesday, September 15. The National Weather Service expects south winds of 20 to 30 knots, gusts up to 35 knots and waves of 6 to 11 feet.
Boaters should change plans before conditions worsen
Boaters, anglers and charter operators should consider remaining in port, reaching safe harbor before the warning begins, altering course or securing vessels. Mariners should check the latest NWS marine alert before leaving and continue monitoring conditions during the trip.
The active advisory and warning are a material update from the September 12 forecast preview, which described the possibility of hazardous conditions but did not yet provide these active warning windows.
This alert applies to Lake Michigan nearshore waters. It does not mean that all inland Sheboygan County communities are under a Gale Warning.
