Beach Hazards Statement Starts Friday, May 22 at 4 PM for Sheboygan County Beaches

Sheboygan County beaches are under a Beach Hazards Statement starting Friday, May 22 at 4 p.m. and continuing through Saturday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee.

The alert was issued at 12:31 p.m. Thursday, May 21, for Sheboygan and Ozaukee counties. The hazard text calls for life-threatening waves of 3 to 5 feet, dangerous currents, and unsafe swimming conditions caused by high waves and onshore winds.

Friday, May 22 at 4 PM through Saturday afternoon

The same forecast package also keeps a Small Craft Advisory in place for the Sheboygan-to-Port Washington nearshore waters during that Friday afternoon-to-Saturday afternoon window. Boaters should plan for rough Lake Michigan conditions.

The Sheboygan County zone forecast includes Plymouth, Sheboygan Falls, Howards Grove, and Oostburg in WIZ052, which keeps this tied to the county’s lakeshore communities.

Beachgoers should stay out of the water and away from piers and breakwalls during the hazard period. Families planning lakefront time Friday and Saturday should build in extra caution or choose inland plans instead.
