Town of Sheboygan Falls Weekly: I-43 Work Begins, March Meetings Set
The past week brought major highway construction activity near the Town of Sheboygan Falls along with routine but important local government meetings. With a winter storm forecast for the weekend, residents also face changing road conditions heading into mid-March.
I-43 Construction Underway Near Town
A major Wisconsin Department of Transportation project is now underway on Interstate 43 in Sheboygan County. Work began March 2 on a $21 million rehabilitation project covering roughly 10 miles from Wilson/Lima Road to WIS 42 in the Town of Sheboygan.
For Town of Sheboygan Falls residents who commute north or south, the project means reduced lanes, ramp closures, and periodic traffic shifts through the fall. The work includes pavement resurfacing, bridge maintenance on nine structures, guardrail replacement, and updated signage.
Drivers are encouraged to check 511WI before traveling, especially with active construction zones and changing weather expected through early next week.
Town Board and Plan Commission Meetings
The Town Board met March 2 as part of its regular monthly schedule. Agendas and meeting materials are posted on the town’s official website for residents who want to review discussions, approvals, or ongoing projects.
The Plan Commission also held a February meeting and continues to review land use and development matters affecting the town. Residents interested in zoning, development proposals, or long-range planning should monitor upcoming agenda postings for March and April as spring building season approaches.
Town meeting notices and agendas are available online and typically posted ahead of each meeting.
Winter Weather and Travel Impacts
After a relatively mild stretch, winter conditions are returning this weekend. Snow is forecast to begin Saturday night, transitioning to rain Sunday, followed by sleet and heavy snow with blowing snow Sunday night into Monday. Gusty north winds and accumulating snow could make rural roads in the Town of Sheboygan Falls hazardous.
With I-43 construction already reducing lane widths in some areas, residents should plan extra travel time and prepare for rapidly changing road conditions. Cold temperatures into Monday night may also limit the effectiveness of road salt.
Travelers can monitor statewide conditions and closures through Wisconsin’s 511 system.
Looking Ahead
As March continues, residents should watch for:
- Additional I-43 ramp or lane closure announcements.
- Upcoming Town Board and Plan Commission meetings.
- Spring cleanup and seasonal public works notices as snow begins to melt later this month.
With road construction season beginning and winter making one more push, the next few weeks will require extra attention to travel planning and local meeting schedules.
