Local government (county items that affect Town of Scott residents)

Health & Human Services citizen vacancy: Sheboygan County is seeking a registered nurse or physician to serve on the Health & Human Services Committee for a three-year term. Applicants must be registered voters and Sheboygan County residents; the appointment is made by the County Administrator and confirmed by the County Board.

County Board agenda highlights (Feb. 17 meeting): The published agenda packet included items related to county finances (general obligation promissory notes parameters) and a proposal to engage outside counsel on a contingency-fee basis to pursue litigation tied to PFAS contamination impacts in Sheboygan County.

Upcoming meetings to watch

Property Committee (Feb. 24): The posted agenda includes routine business (minutes, vouchers) plus updates and an item under Building Services for consideration of a resolution approving an amendment to an agreement between Sheboygan County and the UW Board of Regents for the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay, Sheboygan Campus.

Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) (Feb. 27): The agenda includes updates (HazMat, public health, hazard mitigation planning) and action items on multiple emergency off-site plans for facilities across the county, including locations in Adell, Cedar Grove, Kohler, Plymouth, and Sheboygan Falls.

Public safety

Waldo house fire (Feb. 19): A garage fire on Mulberry Drive in the Village of Waldo drew a large multi-department response. The Sheriff’s Office reported no one was inside the home and the cause remains under investigation. Departments listed as assisting included Adell, Beechwood, Random Lake, Silver Creek, Plymouth, Oostburg, Kohler, Sheboygan Falls, and others—mutual-aid capacity that matters for Town of Scott’s fire/EMS coverage, too.

Community events (countywide)

The Sheboygan County Chamber calendar lists upcoming community networking/professional events, including ‘Maximize Your Membership’ and a Young Professionals speed networking gathering on Feb. 25 in Sheboygan.
