Local government: Sheboygan County actions and upcoming meetings

For Town of Scott residents, several county-level decisions and meetings are worth tracking because they shape services you use every day (roads, public health, emergency response, and county facilities).

County Board (meeting held Feb. 17)

The Sheboygan County Board of Supervisors met Tuesday, Feb. 17. The agenda packet included a memorial resolution honoring former County Board Chair Mike Vandersteen, plus finance and policy items including a carryover of unexpended 2025 appropriations into 2026 and action related to outside counsel tied to fluorosurfactant contamination concerns in county soil and waters. Human Resources Committee (upcoming Feb. 23)

An amended agenda is posted for the Human Resources Committee meeting on Monday, Feb. 23 at 2:30 p.m. Items include consideration of a change to the Table of Organization at Rocky Knoll Health Care Center and department updates.

Public safety

Large multi-department response to Waldo fire (Feb. 19)

Sheboygan County officials reported no one was inside a home when a garage fire on Mulberry Drive in the Village of Waldo began spreading toward the house. The cause remains under investigation. The response included many departments across the county, highlighting how mutual aid can draw resources from multiple communities during major incidents.

Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) meeting (upcoming Feb. 27)

The Sheboygan County LEPC meets Friday, Feb. 27 at 8:00 a.m. at the Sheriff’s Department (with a virtual option). The agenda includes HazMat and public health updates, hazard mitigation planning discussion, a presentation from the EPA’s Emergency Response Branch, and votes on multiple emergency off-site plans for facilities around the county, including a revised plan for Adell Cooperative Union in Adell.
