Town of Rhine, Weekly News Brief (Sheboygan County Focus)
Here is a look at the past week’s local government, school, infrastructure and public safety updates relevant to Town of Rhine residents.
County Unit Meeting Hosted in Rhine
On March 5, the Sheboygan County Unit of the Wisconsin Towns Association held its scheduled meeting in the Town of Rhine. The agenda included reports from legislators, town officials and the Wisconsin Towns Association, along with a public safety update from Sheboygan County Sheriff Matthew Spence.
The meeting focused in part on town hall safety and possible actions local governments can take to improve security and preparedness. Future county unit meetings are planned in other Sheboygan County communities later this year.
I-43 Reconstruction Underway
Major reconstruction work on Interstate 43 in Sheboygan County began March 2, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. The project is expected to continue through the 2026 construction season.
While Town of Rhine is west of the I-43 corridor, many residents rely on the highway for commuting to Sheboygan, Manitowoc and beyond. Drivers should expect ongoing lane shifts and construction activity. More disruptive work is anticipated later this summer at the I-43 and Highway 23 interchange, where ramp bridge work is scheduled.
Residents are encouraged to monitor 511 travel updates and allow extra time when heading east toward the lakeshore.
Plymouth School District: Trimester Ends
For families in the Plymouth School District, which serves students in the Town of Rhine area, Friday, March 6 marked the end of the second trimester for the 2025-26 school year.
Looking ahead, spring break is scheduled for March 30 through April 3. Additional no-school days later this spring include professional development days and Memorial Day. Families should review the district calendar as report cards and scheduling updates follow the close of the trimester.
Town Information and Agendas
Town of Rhine residents can review meeting agendas, minutes and official notices through the town’s website. The Town Hall is located on County Road FF, and materials are posted online for public access. Residents are encouraged to check regularly for upcoming board and committee meetings.
