Sheboygan, Weekly News Brief (Sheboygan County Focus)
Transportation & Road Work
A major Interstate 43 rehabilitation project is now underway in Sheboygan County. Work began March 2 along a 10-mile stretch from Wilson/Lima Road in the Town of Wilson to Highway 42 in the Town of Sheboygan. Initial tree clearing is expected to have minimal traffic impact, but longer-term lane closures are scheduled to begin منتصف-March and continue through summer, with intermittent closures likely into fall. Bridge maintenance, pavement replacement and ramp work at the I-43 and Highway 23 interchange are expected to cause the most disruption later this year.
Within the City of Sheboygan, the Department of Public Works reports that curbside garbage and recycling collection remain on schedule. As of the latest city update, there are no active road closures. DPW has also announced a special one-week spring leaf collection to address leaves left behind after early winter snowfall.
Local Government
The City of Sheboygan Licensing, Hearings, and Public Safety Committee is scheduled to meet March 10 at 4:30 p.m., according to the city’s meeting portal. Agendas and packets are available online for residents who wish to review items related to licensing and public safety oversight.
Residents are encouraged to monitor upcoming committee and commission meetings through the city’s online calendar for updates on public safety, transit, and other municipal matters.
Schools & Community
The Sheboygan Area School District has opened registration for summer school programming, offering academic and enrichment opportunities for students. District leaders are also preparing for spring break, scheduled for March 20 through March 27, with no classes held during that period. A staff professional development day will follow on March 30.
The SASD Board of Education Committees and Full Board Meeting is set for March 10 at 6:00 p.m. at 3330 Stahl Road. Community members may attend or follow district communications for updates on board actions and upcoming initiatives.
Public Safety Notes
City officials continue to direct residents to official channels for updates on infrastructure, seasonal operations and safety notices. As road construction ramps up on I-43 later this month, drivers are urged to plan for potential delays and check 511 Wisconsin for travel impacts.
