Random Lake Roundup: County Road J Closure, Garden Club Pickup May 7
It was a relatively steady week in Random Lake, with road construction updates and community events topping the list of items residents should keep on their radar as May begins.
County Road J Closed for Reconstruction
Sheboygan County has begun full reconstruction on County Road J from State Highway 57 to State Highway 67. The closure took effect April 20 and is expected to last through November 2026.
Drivers in and around Random Lake who rely on County Road J should follow posted detours and allow extra travel time, especially for commutes toward Plymouth or connections to Highway 67. The long-term project is part of the county’s 2026 construction season and will impact local farm traffic, school routes, and daily travel patterns for much of the year.
I-43 Work Continues in Sheboygan County
In addition to county road work, the Wisconsin DOT continues its resurfacing project on Interstate 43 in Sheboygan County. Crews are working between Highway 42 and County Road V, with outside lane closures in both directions.
Base patching and structure work are ongoing, along with fencing removal and replacement between Highways 32 and 23. While this stretch is south of Random Lake, many residents traveling to Sheboygan or Milwaukee may encounter slowdowns and should check 511 before heading out.
RL Garden Club Plant Pickup Set for May 7
The Random Lake Garden Club’s annual plant sale wraps up its ordering phase, with pickup scheduled for Thursday, May 7 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Spiekers Pumpkin Farm on Highway 57.
Orders were due April 24, and residents who placed orders should mark their calendars for the pickup window. Proceeds from the sale support local beautification projects throughout the village, including seasonal plantings and public green spaces.
Village Board Meetings and Public Participation
The Village of Random Lake continues its regular board meeting schedule, typically held on Mondays at 6:30 p.m. at Village Hall. Agendas and minutes are posted through the village’s online Agenda Center.
Residents are encouraged to review upcoming agendas and attend meetings if topics affect neighborhood concerns, infrastructure, or local ordinances. Public comment periods are included on most regular meeting agendas.
Looking Ahead
With frost still lingering in early May and more road projects ramping up across Sheboygan County, spring in Random Lake is shaping up to be a season of construction and community activity. Residents should stay alert for detours, monitor county updates, and take advantage of local events as the weather warms.
