Oostburg Weekly: Winter Parking Ends, I-43 Work Underway
It is a transition week in Oostburg as winter parking restrictions come to an end, major highway construction continues nearby, and residents prepare for the April spring election.
Winter Parking Restrictions End March 16
The Village of Oostburg has announced that winter overnight parking restrictions will officially end on Sunday, March 16, 2026.
Overnight street parking had been prohibited from 2 to 6 a.m. during the winter season. With restrictions lifted, residents may resume overnight parking on village streets starting Sunday night.
Village officials are reminding property owners that snow removal rules remain in effect. Sidewalks must be cleared within 24 hours after snowfall ends, and snow may not be shoveled or blown into the street.
I-43 Construction Impacts Local Travel
Drivers in and around Oostburg should continue to expect traffic impacts from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s I-43 rehabilitation project in Sheboygan County.
The $21 million project began March 2 and covers more than 10 miles of I-43 from Wilson/Lima Road to WIS 42. Work includes resurfacing, bridge maintenance, guardrail upgrades, and sign structure replacements.
Motorists can expect reduced lanes in both directions and intermittent ramp closures throughout the project area. For Oostburg residents who rely on I-43 for commuting north to Sheboygan or south toward Ozaukee County and Milwaukee, travel times may fluctuate as construction progresses into the spring and summer.
Spring Election Set for April 7
The 2026 Wisconsin Spring Election will be held Tuesday, April 7. Local voters in Oostburg will cast ballots at their regular polling location in the village.
Residents are encouraged to confirm their voter registration status, request absentee ballots if needed, and watch for additional details from village officials as Election Day approaches. This spring election is part of Wisconsin’s regularly scheduled statewide election calendar.
Oostburg Advances in Boys Basketball Playoffs
On the sports front, Oostburg’s boys basketball team secured a 56-53 win over Kettle Moraine Lutheran in WIAA playoff action earlier this week.
The narrow victory keeps the team’s postseason run alive and has drawn strong community support as tournament play continues. Families and fans should check the school district and WIAA schedules for upcoming game details.
Chamber Event Coming Up March 25
Looking ahead, the Oostburg Area Chamber of Commerce will host its March Business After Hours event on Wednesday, March 25, from 5 to 7 p.m. The networking gathering offers local business owners and community members a chance to connect and share updates as the spring season begins.
With shifting weather patterns and construction season ramping up, residents are encouraged to plan travel carefully and stay informed through official village and county updates in the weeks ahead.
