The Village of Elkhart Lake Board of Trustees met Monday, Feb. 16 at the Grashorn Civic Center. The posted agenda highlights several items residents may want to track in the weeks ahead, including discussion items coming out of committee work on beach pass changes, barricade rentals, and 2026 events planning.
Public Works-related agenda items also signaled ongoing nuts-and-bolts work that can affect day-to-day life and travel around the village, including alley plans and a curb cut at 56 S. Washington, water meter work at Point Elkhart, and a Public Service Commission water rate case. The agenda also included a contract item for IC Construction under Public Works.
Public safety and quality-of-life topics appeared on the same agenda through committee highlights referencing the buoy program, a sign at the boat launch, and possible changes tied to the village noise ordinance.
Schools
Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah School District lists its next School Board meeting as Monday, Feb. 16, with meetings scheduled monthly through spring.
On the athletics side, postseason planning is underway. Area reporting on WIAA girls basketball pairings includes a Division Five regional opener that has Elkhart Lake/Glenbeulah hosting Wild Rose on Tuesday, Feb. 24 (7 p.m. tip unless otherwise noted by WIAA).
Community and events
Elkhart Lake hosted an education-legal event on Thursday, Feb. 19: the WASB/WSAA School Law Conference at The Osthoff Resort. The agenda description notes sessions on school law topics including complaint investigations, technology issues, free speech, and employment-related legal matters.
Roads and public safety
Regionally, Sheboygan County first responders handled a major fire response on Thursday, Feb. 19 in the Village of Waldo. WBAY reports a garage was engulfed and fire was spreading to the home, with no one inside; the cause remained under investigation. The response included multiple Sheboygan County departments, including Glenbeulah Fire Department and several others that regularly provide mutual aid across the county.
